I've had the pleasure of knowing Reginald Durant and Lori Whalen from Back to Natives for some time now. They're one of the usual suspects you'll find occupying vendor booths at local "green" expos and related events. I'd never had the chance to attend one of their workshops until just recently for their installation workshop at 319 21st Street, a new green home being built by Jason Scheurer of Living Green Homes (shown below). Reggie has his act down, let me tell you! Very well run workshop that's insanely informative throughout the whole day. You'll have the chance to learn about native plants, why they're so important, properly caring for our soil and why it's important to us and you'll laugh along with Reggie's witty humor as he guides you…

With finish work and landscaping left on Developer Steven Blanchard's construction schedule, he and his build team are on pace to complete the first United States Green Building Council LEED® Platinum Certified Home in Orange County, CA.     Craftsman with a modern, green infusion. Designed by David Gangloff of David Gangloff Architects Inc, the home does it's best to maintain it's modesty from the street, but once you entire this one story masterpiece everything goes out the window. I love the scale throughout the home and the magnificent great room that feels big enough to have hosted the town ball in the 1800s. It's a trophy home, for sure and I can't imagine if there's any Costa Mesa home that rivals it's level of design and…

Today, July 22nd of 2009, Tresor Properties held a ground breaking ceremony for their 990 & 992 Ocean Front Homes in Laguna Beach, CA. There was a healthy turnout in the middle of hot, Thursday afternoon. Most attendants jockeying for shade underneath the solar PV integrated canopy. Led by Jeff Fischbeck of Tresor Properties, the ground breaking ceremony lasted approximately one hour with speakers like Laguna Beach Mayor Kelly Boyd, Executive Director of the Orange County Chapter of the United States Green Building Council Lisa Kramer and Darren Moore of Planet Green's TV show "Alter Eco".     It's exciting to see high-end, custom home builders like Tresor Properties embrace green building programs like USGBC's LEED for Homes.…
