Costa Mesa, CA - This past Saturday evening we were fortunate enough to attend Banksyland, an international traveling exhibition of Bansky’s controversial work spanning his 25 year career.
The event took place in our own backyard at the new Westside Museum in Westside Costa Mesa, which is a creative multi-purpose space located across the street from the live/work community known as “17 West”. It's just one of the latest happenings that's helping to reshape Westside Costa Mesa into a cultural epicenter for artists and entrepreneurs, many who live & work in the surrounding condos & lofts.
It was great to see this type of event in Orange County which is typically viewed as a conservative and bland destination when it comes to the arts, aside from trendy Laguna Beach and the recently opened OCMA. The traffic was steady as art lovers from Orange County and neighboring Los Angeles of all ages gazed at the various displays. There were over 80 pieces of artwork on display including print, paint, street and immersive installations. Right on brand for Banksy, the art displayed was anti-authoritarian and urban in nature. Here’s a few of our favorite pieces from the exhibit…
If you have't had a chance to check out the Westside Museum, we highly recommend it. They have a monthly market know as the "Westside Market" the second Sunday of every month.
