Adjacent to City Place on it's Northeast will soon be a 2nd larger luxury apartment building.  Construction at The 301 has begun earlier this year as they grade the lot, which is directly adjacent to City Place and will effect the street parking on Jeanette Lane, no doubt.  Fortunately this new project, Eleven 10 West, is accessible only off Town and Country Road.  The additional 260 dwellings at Eleven 10 West, made up of studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms, will hopefully continue to stimulate the live/work loft spaces at City Place and neighboring businesses as well as MainPlace Mall.  Restaurants in Old Towne Orange and Downtown Santa Ana may notice a bit of a bump in business as these two luxury apartments start to lease up.

Orange County just can not get enough skate parks for the few kicks who still play outdoors.  Anaheim is breaking ground on their 3rd skate park, which will be located at the Ponderosa Park & Family Resource Center at 2100 S. Haster Street.

The first phase will be a new 9,000 poured in place Skate Park located near the corner of Haster and Orangewood.

The planned 10,000-square-foot skate park will feature a bowl, four rails, four ramps and a designated area for youth skaters and one for teens and adults. The skate park is designed with resident input and will be constructed to fit in among the existing trees.

Construction is under way and the Roost is starting to move along.  Located at 601 E Santa Ana Blvd off Minter, it's a much needed bridge between the Santa Ana Artist Village and the Santiago Street Lofts and Train Depot.  It's small, just a few rental units and possibly a restaurant space, and somewhat isolated between the trendy downtown, where many out of areas flock to, but generally don't venture very far from the Artist Village area.

It's a great looking project and should be an excellent demonstration of re-use for the area.  They're looking for tenants now so if you're interested, jump on it!

An even more dilapidated fence and more unrulely shrubs occupy what was once suppose to be a big, bright shinny luxury residential building (see previous blog post).  The recently proposed "301 Development" has still not made any movement on the ground, but here's a pretty new rendering to enjoy.

Most residents at City Place are unhappy that they'll end up with a 5 story, 182 unit luxury apartment building next to them instead of another individually owned condo complex, but I think it beats the eye sore of an unlept lot and large parking structure to the North along Lawson.  It's very possible that the apartment management company may do a better job than an HOA management company could do so at least current City Place residents can rest assured

The Depot at Santiago, a controversial new development adjacent to the Santiago Street Lofts, is a 70 unit affordable housing rental property with approximately 8,000 Sq' set aside for some very, very much needed retail.

The popular, and affordable, Santiago Street Lofts are about 8 blocks Northeast of Downtown Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Artist Village and there's little to no retail nearby the project.  When the Santiago Street Lofts were originally developed buyers were sold on a grand plan, named the Station District, to completely revamp the surrounding area and especially along E Santa Ana Blvd, which would connect Santa Ana's Train Depot with Downtown Santa Ana.
